All Saints' Day 2026

Updated: 6 hours ago
Dear Friends,
This Sunday is All Saints' Day, a day when we remember those who have gone before us, those whose lives have become part of our own stories, and those whose absence we continue to feel.
But I've been thinking about something this week.
What happens when remembering isn't comforting?
What about the relationships that were complicated? The conversations we never finished? The things we wish we had said—or perhaps wish we hadn't?
We tend to speak about death in ways that make it a little easier to bear. We reach for familiar assurances, beautiful promises, and the hope that everything will somehow be made right.
And perhaps it will.
But I wonder whether faith asks something more of us than simply finding comfort in what we hope to be true.
This Sunday, in a sermon titled "What Death Cannot Hold," we'll explore the strange relationship between love, loss, and the things we cannot quite let go of.
And we'll consider a rather unexpected instruction from Jesus that may have more to say about death—and life—than we first imagine.
I hope you'll join us at 10:30 a.m. as we remember, light candles, and make room for all the different ways we carry those who have gone before us.
See you Sunday!
Maria
